Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) comprise companies with no more than 250 employees. Almost all Dutch companies are SMEs, with only one percent qualifying as 'large companies' (251 or more employees).
Most SMEs are engaged in commercial services and the retail/wholesale sector.
